Cabo San Lucas—Sunday 12/4/22

December 4, 2022

I heard Kristen making breakfast bright and early on Sunday morning, but I couldn’t bring myself to drag my butt out of bed right away. There was an issue with the coffee pot, but fortunately by the time I arose around 8 am, Curtis had made coffee in the electric percolator. I got a bit of FOMO when Kristen announced she was going to the pool, but poolside before 9 am on day one was a little too extreme for me.

For breakfast I fried up an egg and lamented over what a boring egg muffin sandwich I was about to eat (poor planning at the grocery store FTL) when I remembered we had charcuterie meat and cheese, so I enjoyed a bougie sandwich for breakfast.

The pool and beach were quiet in the morning, and we had no issues scoring some chairs and an umbrella overlooking the water. Even by the afternoon it wasn’t terribly busy. Hopefully it stays this way throughout the trip. I hate the stress of fighting for space. Things always seem to get sketch as the days count closer to Christmas.

Pool of Solitude

Curtis noticed some whale blows out in the ocean. (I’m sure there’s a better word for it but I’m too lazy to Goog it.) Tons of boats flocked toward it. Eventually we saw the tail pop out of the water. Now we know for the future, where there are clusters of boats, there are whales.

Cabo San Lucas—Saturday 12/3/22

December 3, 2022

Three years and one world-wide pandemic later, I find myself once again in Cabo San Lucas with Curtis and Kristen. We wanted to take a relaxing early winter vacation and chose Cabo because, while the diving wasn’t spectacular, the town was a lot of fun and we wanted to spend more time exploring it.

The travel portion of the trip went smoothly, and we officially began our vacation at the airport bar while waiting for our shuttle.

For this trip, we rented a condo at Terrasol. It has a kitchen, which is great for those of us who can’t be bothered to forage the town for breakfast every morning. The first thing I did was inadvertently lock the safe without setting a code. Fortunately it was empty. I left it as a problem for future Jill, as ain’t nobody got time to deal with safes when there was shopping to be done.

Cabo San Lucas—Thursday 12/5/19

December 5, 2019

Thursday marked our last full day in Cabo San Lucas. We kicked the day off with breakfast at the hotel, as you do. Today’s special was a breakfast burrito, filled with eggs, cheese, and potatoes, and covered with a black bean sauce.

Kristen and Curtis headed off to the beach again. I stayed back to enjoy some sun at the pool and to feel my feelings alone, at the pool of solitude.Read More →

Cabo San Lucas—Wednesday 12/4/19

December 5, 2019

Once again I woke up in the wee hours of the morning with horrible heartburn. I took some meds and drank some Alka Seltzer, and sat upright for an hour until it subsided enough to sleep.

We enjoyed breakfast again. Today’s meal was apple waffles and they were fantastic!

Cabo San Lucas—Tuesday 12/3/19

December 4, 2019

No alarms were set for Tuesday morning because we cancelled our last day of diving. Despite unlimited sleeping time, I was still awake at 7:00 am. Curtis, Kristen, and I enjoyed our free breakfast once again. Today’s menu item was an omelet with spicy queso sauce.

After breakfast Kristen and I ventured to Oxxo for some more room beverages and snacks, and to get change for tips. We successfully got snacks, but forgot to ask for the change in small bills. We scrounged up enough pesos for housekeeping before venturing into town.Read More →
