Kiss Kiss

May 22, 2011

The last recital of the 2011 dance season wrapped this afternoon. It was fun, I had a blast, and hopefully I won’t forget to buy a DVD this year. I thought it’d be fun to post a video of a dance from 3 years ago because Sara wanted to hear the song Kiss Kiss, and because we were just so awesome, I couldn’t possibly rob her of the privilege of watching us herself!

Actually, now that a few years have passed and I forgot most of the moves and how irritating the song was (because let’s face it, doing the same dance for 9 months gets a little tedious), it’s actually not that bad. We look pretty good, the costumes aren’t as hideous as I remember (i.e. I didn’t look as fat as I thought), and I can honestly say it’s pretty entertaining to watch.

My favorite part is when I bombed my grands so bad that I turned right off the stage. Yeah, if I call myself out it makes it okay, right?

They said what??!?

March 28, 2011

This post is long overdue. I intended to finish off the Belize blogs with this fun little number . . . last December. Sure I could have written it off like the last few days of vacation posts. Or like 90% of my blog-a-day posts in February. But I simply couldn’t. Actually, I completely forgot about taking these notes while on vacation until I was transferring info from my BlackBerry to my iPhone. And then they sat on my computer for 3 weeks cuz that’s how I roll.

Anyway, sometimes nothing is funnier than things taken out of context. While in Belize, there were a few pretty hilarious things said that I couldn’t resist writing down. I think what makes some of these lines so great is that they were said by my clean cut friends like the cklahrs and Hintzesseseesss.

Without further ado, I bring you super funny things that were said on vacation:

“I’m going buff for the rest of vacation.”
~Kristen on hair accessories

“Are you drinking your special sauce?”
~Cindy to Ted as he was drinking the citrus sauce at Caliente

“I’m a fricking adult. I can put anything in my mouth and swallow it.”
~Nick on eating things one might not necessarily like in order to be polite.

“I’m a hot piece of ass.”
~Nick on core tempurature

“You can just spit the jelly into Jill’s mouth.”
~This was one of those that I didn’t write down who said it or what it was in regard to because I honestly didn’t think I could forget. I’m pretty sure it was said by Kristen to Nick and had to do with a food with a jelly filling that Nick doesn’t like but I do. A candy perhaps? Maybe something we ate in Belize? idk.

I heart my iPhone

March 7, 2011

Last week I got an iPhone. Yay! I was on the fence about getting one ever since they announced the phone would be available through Verizon. I liked my BlackBerry, I just really wanted to have the iPhone.

So I drank the Kool-Aid, and I’m so glad I did!

I’ve been having fun downloading apps. Words With Friends has been consuming a lot of my battery life (I’m jillapal00za if you play). Angry Birds and Cut the Rope are both fun games as well. The IMDB app rocks for looking up local movie times and random movie/TV/actor info. I only downloaded it because I went to imdb.com all the time on my old phone, so I was pleasantly surprised by the other features. I have many other apps as well but really haven’t had the opportunity to use them yet (blogging from the WordPress app for the first time).

So tell me, do you have an iPhone? Any fun apps you want to rave about?

Happy 4th Birthday jillapalooza.com!

February 28, 2011

jillapalooza turns four years old today! Do you know what that means? Content! Four years worth of fabulous content! Feel free to go to the archives and reminisce.

My blog-a-day this month kind of fell through the cracks, but in my defense, I was deathly ill for about a week. Then just mostly ill for another week. And then in pain for about another week. *shrugs* Maybe I’ll try again at a later date. #ProcrastinationRocks

Until then, have some virtual cake for me jillapalooza.com

Being sick is a b*tch

February 10, 2011

Not only does being sick suck because it made me miss yesterday’s Blog a Day post, but it also cost me two hours of my life spent in Urgent Care which I will never get back.

The cold I developed on Monday has gotten progressively worse each day. I took Wednesday and Thursday off work. My cough is horrible, and my throat and chest hurts every time I cough. After a nap this afternoon (I’ve practically slept the last two days away), I woke up with a painfully sore throat and could barely speak. I popped a few pills for inflammation and took another dose of ‘Quil, then I decided maybe I should go to the doctor.

Anyone who knows me knows that I avoid doctors at all costs. Unless there’s something really wrong with me (which is hardly ever), they usually send me away with instructions to take double the dose of something that is usually already in my medicine cabinet. It was no different this time.

I have an upper respiratory infection (aka fancy doctor words for common cold). It’s viral, so they can’t do anything about it. The rapid strep test came back negative, but I won’t have the results of the culture until tomorrow. Last time I had strep, the culture came back positive. So we shall see.

My blood pressure is through the roof, which is most likely *crosses fingers* a result of taking cold medication because I don’t have a history of high blood pressure. So they told me not to take anymore Day/NyQuil. Fortunately they gave me a prescription cough suppressant. Hopefully that will do the trick because I can’t handle another night of being miserable.
