Anaheim – Thursday 6/28

August 2, 2012

Thursday was awesome because it was our do nothing day. We had some pool time during the day, and for dinner we went to The Boiling Crab. Awesomest. Restaurant. Ever. You tell them what you want, and then they throw it in a bag and, I don’t know, boil it or something. I got snow crab. Maybe I’ll have to start the hunt for the Minnesota equivalent. Or go back to California. It’s worth the trip.

Mary and I went out with a bang that night, ordering banana splits and an international cheese tray and dining in our room. Wow, we ordered room service a lot during this trip. In case you couldn’t tell, we ate a lot, too.

Anaheim – Wednesday 6/27

August 2, 2012

Usually I don’t start slacking on vacation posts until the last day, which typically never gets blogged about. I’ve been really fail with the Disney blogging. On Wednesday we went to Disneyland and California Adventure. And ordered room service. Here are some pictures.

Anaheim – Tuesday 6/26

July 9, 2012

Day two in Anaheim was sun and adventure filled. Mary and I kicked it off with breakfast from room service. Then we checked out because we had to switch rooms and stowed our bags before heading to Disneyland. We rode some rides and ate some food. Lunch reservations were at the Blue Bayou, which shared an indoor space with Pirates of the Caribbean—the best ride ever because it’s long and air conditioned and we got to sit in a boat.

After lunch we waited in some more ride lines. It got pretty toasty outside as well. I purchased a delicious Mickey Mouse pretzel before getting in line for Indiana Jones Adventure. Between eating, seeing the girl reading Fifty Shades* in line, and briefly listening to the Australian in front of us, the hour passed relatively quickly.

After Indiana Jones Adventure (which was also awesome), we were hot and hungry, so we headed back to the hotel to check in to our new room with the intention of going back to the park later in the evening. We ordered late lunch/early dinner from room service, and I internally cried over the giant blister that had formed under my toe. I think at some point we went to the pool, too.

I wasn’t feeling too hot by the end of the night. Mary went back to the park alone. I stayed back in the room and really . . . let go. *shifty eyes* I got a lot of reading done while I was alone, so that was good, and the fireworks were fun to watch from the balcony.

Below are photos of food, Disney, more food, more Disney, more food, evidence of the girl getting her Fifty on, the view from our new hotel room, yet more food, fireworks, and the monster blister on my toe.

*I mean, what the fuck? Really? Leave your poorly written pr0n at home. You’re surrounded by children for Christ’s sake. At the very least take a page from this girl‘s book and use an ereader.

Anaheim – Monday 6/25

June 26, 2012

This week I am vacationing in California with Mary! I’m really excited, but I’m not sure she believes me because my excited face is pretty much like my bored face is pretty much like my tired/happy/mad/sad/glad face.

I arrived yesterday at 7:02 p.m. The flight was a little rough, but I was in an aisle seat close to the bathroom and had a cute boy sitting next to me so it made it kind of okay. My head was constantly pressurizing, almost as though the pilot couldn’t keep a steady elevation, and I had a headache for the rest of the evening.

Mary and I ate dinner at McCormick & Schmick’s, one of the restaurants I ate at while in Seattle last year. We started off with a bowl of clam chowder and oysters. I’d never had oysters from the shell before, but I must say I quite enjoyed them. For the main course I had seared sea scallops on a bed of spinach and crab hash, and for dessert we split a lemon soufflé. I also ordered a Bloody Mary, but it was terrible. Terrible. The meal cost a ridiculous amount of money and I’m sure it’s only the beginning.

After dinner we stopped at the hotel gift shop, where I bought water, sunscreen, and a small tube of Advil for a bargain deal of $723.

Once again I’m traveling without a traditional camera and will be relying on my iPhone to capture the memories. I would have brought it a long, but the charger is currently MIA.

Cozumel – Saturday 12/3

December 4, 2011

It’s hard to believe we’ve been in Cozumel for a week already. The time has really flown by.

When I woke up and looked outside, I thought to myself that it was probably the calmest day we’ve had so far; the waves barely lapped the shore. So we were all very surprised to discover that the swells were too high for the boat to pick us up, and we had to take taxis to the harbor. It was mildly inconvenient, but it was nice to not have a long boat ride for once. On the way back they tried to go to the dock, but we turned around when we reached the cruise ship port and went back to the harbor.

I’m not very good at checking the time, but it seemed like we got back quite a bit earlier than previous dive days. After lunch, Kristen and I went poolside to soak up some rays. At around three we headed up to the room for a proper nap before our night dive.

For dinner we opted to walk south again instead of heading to town. We ate at Paprika’s again, just like last Saturday. Nick and I duplicated our previous meal. Kristen let me try some of her flan. I admit it was pretty good. Much better than the restaurant at the hotel. Still, something about the texture is hard for me to swallow (see what I did there?).

Also, I decided to do the 100 Burpee Challenge with BRK. It started December 1 with one burpee. We’ll be adding an additional burpee each day until the last day, when we do 100 burpees. At the time I agreed to participate, I didn’t realize they were the push-up burpees. This should be interesting. Oh well, at least the $10 entry fee goes to a good cause. I think. I’m really not sure. I may or may not make a periodic post about the challenge.

Anyway, what I’m trying to get at is that I had to do my three burpees today after dinner on a full stomach. I wouldn’t recommend doing that again. The burpees will definitely be before mealtimes from here on out!

I just realized that I took no non diving related photos today, so here’s a pic from the other day. My first authentic churro! A nice gentleman moseys about the resort selling them. He makes chocolate and vanilla, but he promised to bring us blueberry before we have to go home.
