Finally Snow

Well it’s December 1st… the beginning of the last month of the year. We are finally getting some snow that seems to be sticking around. I guess it’s to be expected, being December and all. It also makes me glad that I’m getting out of this dump in a few more days. It’s nice to leave all the snow and craziness of the holiday hustle and bustle behind.

Although it’s always neat when it first snows. It’s so new, it’s been 8 or 9 months after all, and with the snow comes the thoughts of the holidays, holiday treats, warm wooly socks, getting cozy by the fire… But then pretty soon the holidays are over, January, February and March roll around. The snow is dirty and ugly, the thought of shoveling one more time makes you cringe, you’re at your wits end at the horrible winter drivers, the act of suiting up before going outside is getting really, really old and you realize… you don’t have a fireplace.

I guess there’s something to say about the warm weather vacations that occur over spring break after all…

Oh well, Belize get ready, because we’ll be tearing up your quaint little town soon!! :bobble:

Happy Birthday Michelle!!

Hopefully getting out of bed wasn’t too difficult this morning. Well I suppose now that you’re 30 you got up at 4:15 or so. Hey, in a few hours it will be bed time again!! Don’t worry, Sarah will be joining you in 6 days. Not me though. I’ve got another 2 years, 9 months, 28 days and like, an hour or something… roughly, just off the top of my head. Got any big plans for the weekend? Or won’t you be going out any more?

I’m just teasing, you know you’re gonna be one of the hottest 30-somethings ever ;) Have a fabulous birthday!!

New Theme: Iceburgg

I had to scratch the itch to change my theme again, so here it is. The original theme is called Iceburgg (see footer for link). I made a few changes to bring it up to the jillapalooza.com standard that you’ve come to expect by adding tag fields, custom graphics, catchy tag lines, etc. I also had to fix the css because the double enter wasn’t creating the desired line spacing.

It’s got the sidebar on the bottom. I guess that would make it a bottombar. I like it… and I don’t. The clean look of having all that clutter out of the way is nice, but if you’re looking to navigate it’s kind of a pain. But there are only 5 posts per page, and most keyboards today come standard with page down buttons. Besides, I’m really only interested in what two people think of it. Me and Blog Reader Kristen. Who still doesn’t have her own blog. But I guess that’s why she’s called Blog Reader Kristen and not Blog Writer Kristen.

Any how, it’s got a fun wintery theme, which I made kind of Christmas-y. I’m not sure that I like the double header pictures, but if I keep this theme for any length of time I’ll probably create a fun jillapalooza.com logo (with the Gimp of course) to put at the very top, then delete the text heading underneath it.

Why I Hate Shopping…

…from after Thanksgiving until Christmas:

People. People are retarded. Meandering about the store here and there. Maybe it’s because they are entranced by all the normal every day products that are in limited edition sparkley packages. Like bugs to a zapper. Completely oblivious to their surroundings. More realistically though, I think people are always like that. It’s just so much more irritating when the population in the store doubles.

So anyway, today I was at Target. Forced to be there by the need of basic supplies. It wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t the normal happy go lucky Target experience that I’ve come to enjoy. It was busy. People were in my way. Talking on cell phones not realizing how much aisle space they were taking up. Letting their kids push the cart. And if the typical irritating stuff x 3 wasn’t bad enough, I wondered into a fart cloud and couldn’t escape it. It was nasty. Then there was this guy in sweat pants. A heavier guy, but not so heavy he couldn’t find a pair of jeans that fit. And when you hear “heavy” and “sweat pants” in the same sentence, do you get any specific image of an odor in your mind? Need I say more? Then I found a check out line that wasn’t too long. Of course I got behind the lady that memorized the sale prices of everything in her cart. Once I was done with that fiasco I trudged to the back of the lot where I had to park, slowing for a moment to scoff at the car parked in my usual rock star spot. It was windy and cold and my hands were beginning to stick to the metal of the cart handle by the time I found my car. And I didn’t even get to buy anything fun. :(

Then when I got back to work I received an email from Office Depot notifying me that I could take $10 off of a $40 purchase… in store only. Wait, they sent me an electronic coupon that I have to print myself, then bring into the store? That is just ridiculous. Besides, I don’t want to go to their dumb store. I don’t want to go to any store right now. Jerks.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! I hope your day is great and filled with family, friends and food. But let’s not forget to give thanks for the things we’re thankful for. ;)

One of the less important things I am thankful for is that my poll is getting such a great turnout… although I think there might be some repeat votes in there somewhere.
